Carroll Diagrams

Image
This afternoon we were learning about Carroll Diagrams. We found out that these are used in every day life to sort information. We worked with a partner to sort pictures of birds under two headings. We sorted according to size, colour or location.

Line Drawings

As we have been learning about the different features of birds, we had a shot at drawing a Hawk. We followed a step by step video with Miss Fraser and Mrs Paul to help us draw our own. The end results were fantastic! We have m any budding artists in Primary 4!

New Topic

Our new topic for this term is Flight! We have been learning about the features of birds! Miss Fraser gave us the following big questions to discuss: What makes a bird? How do birds fly? Why do birds fly? What birds can't fly? We used the internet to help us find about the different features of birds found in Britain.

Outdoor Learning with Miss Guthrie

Yesterday morning, Primary 4 were very lucky and got to do Big Maths outside with Miss Guthrie. We were split in to groups of 3 and we were given either a short willow stick or a long willow stick. We had to estimate the length or height of objects in the playground and measure them using the sticks. We had some very keen groups measuring the length of the playground using their sticks! When we went back inside, we measured the sticks. The short stick was 50cm in length and the long stick was 1m in length. We used this information to calculate the length or height of the objects from the playground. We can't wait for next week!
