The Bernoulli Effect

This afternoon we were learning about the four forces of flight. We were looking at the 'lift' force and the role aerofoil wings play in helping a plane fly.

Fast flowing air in the top of the wing results in low pressure.
Slow flowing air under the wing results in high pressure.
This higher pressure under the wing is a greater force than the force acting downwards on a plane, therefore creating lift.

We used a ping pong ball and a hairdryer to demonstrate the Bernoulli Effect.
