Problem Solving

This morning Primary 4 were challenged with two maths problems to solve. We looked at the problems as class, discussed and shared strategies, problem solved then shared our solutions with the class. The first problem was the Hoopla Stall. The problem was:

Score 23 points to win a bear. John wins the bear by ringing five different numbers (between 1 and 7) with his hoops. Ring five numbers on the board which will add to 23.

Primary 4 set themselves the challenge of not only thinking of one way to make 23, but twenty three different ways! Miss Fraser was very impressed!

After this problem, they had a shot at 'The Clown's Hat' where they had to find different ways to order the red, blue and green pom pom on the clown' s hat.
